Handsome clothes & Holland

Just a little update from here.
Kevin was just a bit excited to go to church and was sure that he looked VERY handsome in his "handsome" clothes. He said, "My teeth are even shiny!"
A week later at FHE he was talking about being handsome again and told Beau, "I'm going to get tap shoes just like you for church...only smaller."

We love Kevin, especially when he circles his hips and pelvic thrusts outside. I'm just glad he hasn't yet taken to swearing like a sailor like his brothers and the rest of the neighborhood crew.

What Kevin didn't know was that the week that he was finally able to go with us (March 21st), he was going to Stake Conference...and seeing an apostle! Jeffrey R. Holland came to Lodi and was awesome! The way he talked to us (on Sat. night and Sun.) was definitely not a script from the pulpit. He told us he wished we could all just sit around a living room and have a conversation
. Well it was exactly like that. On Saturday night he talked to us about hard times (which so many people are having in one way or another or as he said will have at some point in your life). He was soooo personable and you could just feel how much he loves and cares for us. It was beyond wonderful and there was no doubt in my mind that he is an apostle of the Lord. I hope everyone has such a positive experience as we did someday in their lives.

My Kind of Snow

We took off to Truckee this weekend to give Beau Oshyn the chance to ski. He LOVED it (1st time) and even wanted to go on the chair lift alone. Mr. Independent.
Cruz, Tyce and I stayed at the cabin and while Tyce was snoozing--which is still A LOT--Cruz and I went sledding. It was sooooo much fun. Cruz's laughter and the eating of snow as I first pulled him and then pushed him down the little hills made my heart happy and....ALL OF THIS IN JUST A SWEATSHIRT!!! I lasted MUCH longer being that I didn't get cold and actually took off my jacket because it was so sunny and warm. That's what I call "my kind of snow".
We met up with the McCauley's, Panttaja's, and Pop Pop on Friday. Millie turned 3 on Thursday and Beau 3 X 10 on Friday so we celebrated. (And the kids woke up at 8-3 on Sunday in the bunk room). Kids can't wait to have fun.
A snow-ccessful weekend for sure!

A Sad Day for Tree Climbers

Yesterday we witnessed this little beloved tree's last day in Lodi. When I asked "J" why he was cutting it down he said, "Too many kids are climbing it and it's dangerous."
Seriously? That makes two trees down (for the same reason). Our little men are definitely guilty of climbing, but to cut down this tree broke my heart. Maybe I'm not worried enough about my kid falling out of a 8-foot mini tree?
(Here's the mini tree in better days ie. 2 days ago :)
Maybe I remember how much fun I had climbing trees growing up? Or was it because as a kid we could ride in the back of pick up trucks for fun? Or drink water from hoses? Perhaps this is a minor overreaction, but I just want my kids to be able to be kids and explore--they definitely get hurt (I'm considering learning how to make stitches out of dental floss at the moment) but I think that's part of it.
So...I guess we'll have to go over to the basketball court and climb the remaining 4 trees until the saw gets 'em.

Sweet Sunday

Yesterday after church Oshyn was quietly sitting at the table. So quietly, in fact, that Beau asked him if he was feeling okay. He was, but was hard at work writing a letter...

He hand delivered it to our little neighbor and as evening came Kevin knocked on the door. He told Oshyn he would go with him to church, but not tomorrow because he had school :) What a good little example Oshyn is to us all.

The Way Home

I love a sunny day.
I love that the warmth makes walking home from school a possibility.
I love when we make it those three blocks to drop off O's buddy and I no longer feel as though the kids are going to get hit by a car (or by me :) because of the nutty crazies everyone becomes when G's in company.
I love that Cruz is light enough that if he gets tired for a bit, he can straddle the stroller and I don't worry about it busting.
I love that walking home is never just walking, it's always an adventure waiting to happen.
I love that the boys want to jump off of everything with a ledge and balance on the "little sidewalks".
I love the spring flowers blooming.
I love that Oshyn wants to help Cruz be able to do everything he's doing.
I love a camera on my phone to catch little moments.
I love the fresh air, the sound of birds singing and frogs croaking (and that Cruz thinking the frogs are going to get him).
I love when the boys are lovers of each other, not haters.
I LOVE a sunny day.

What a Blessing

Little Tyce (well, actually BIG Tyce--25 1/2 in and 13.5 lbs) was blessed at church a few weeks ago on the 7th by Beau. I am humbled daily at how different all of these little Spirits are that Heavenly Father sends down to us and I am still learning how to be his mom. I am thankful for the trust he has in me and our family to bring him up. Tyce has been blessing our lives since the day he was born. We are loving his smiles, excited gasps and stare in amazement that one of our babies has hair at 2 months.

Latest project

I've been wanting to do a silhouettes of my boys since before Tyce was born. I waited for him to be in it and here's the final product. I painted an old frame white, "sharpied" side profiles that I printed out on cardstock and stuck a piece of scrapbook paper behind. Vwalla!! It turned out just like I wanted. Yay.

Sure, why not? Everyone else is doing it. (We ONLY have washable markers now :)
